EIT UrbanMobility

The UPC has been a Core Partner since 2017 of the European consortium EIT UrbanMobility which was presented to the 2018 call, choosing the urban mobility project of the university itself.

This consortium is dedicated to accelerating solutions that improve the collective use of urban spaces, while ensuring accessible, comfortable, safe, efficient, sustainable and affordable multimodal mobility. Its aim is to redesign urban spaces, overcoming fragmentation by integrating all agents of urban mobility and increasing social inclusion and equality. Objective to be achieved from:

  • Enabling change: meeting the challenges of sustainable urban growth and decongesting transport networks.
  • Capacity building: training the next generation of urban mobility professionals.
  • Create options: innovation projects, challenge-driven and market-based, and solution-oriented.
  • Offer solutions: develop a favourable environment for implementation, which will give access to customers, partners and infrastructure.

Barcelona, which is a city a use of public transport and other uncontaminated alternative mobility methods, is the host of the Hub created by the EIT UrbanMobility of the Southern Co-Location (Spain, Switzerland), thus becoming the European capital of urban mobility.

Its next location at the UPC allows it to be a truly active collaborator with the participation of innovation and educational projects, such as the launch of the new EIT Master's programme Urban Mobility which will begin in the next academic year 2020 / 2021.
